I opened up my StumbleUpon toolbar and stumbled through my “story” interest. I found some awesome and hilarious discoveries, but there were a few rotten apples in the bunch as well. Here are the first 33 stumbles I made. Don’t worry– I’ll let you know which ones to avoid.

1. One Sentence
True stories, told in one sentence (Twitter Style). Awesome find. Great for quick reads on the go!

2. Zen Stories
Extremely short stories, told in almost a joke format. Do you feel the zen?

3. Grimm’s Fairy Tales
Wow! 209 tales collected by The Brothers Grimm. This is excellent. We’re off to a great start!

4. Makes Me Think
Another FML and MLIA styled site. More short (Twitter Style) stories. We’re starting a theme.

5. Poe Stories
Poetry and short stories by Edgar Allen Poe. Schweeet!

6. Short Story Radio
Listen to a radio show that promotes the short story art form? Kinda cool. I probably won’t be back.

7. The Short Story Revolution
“We believe the short story is perfect for this busy day and age and will play a crucial role in the future of reading and writing.”

8. 365 Tomorrows
A writer’s personal website. Interesting, but I was thrown off by “They vamoosed like rainbow leaves in a hurricane.”

9. Inspiration Peak
A good collection of short stories by many writers, but oh God the website jumped right out of 1998.

10. The Cab Ride
A nice story with that tries to teach you a life lesson.

11. Zen Koans
A collection of 13th century zen parables translated into English. More zen.

12. Violinist in the Metro
Some person giving their opinion on a Washington Post story. Meh.

13. Anatomy of a Kiss
A sweet story for the romantic reader. I didn’t realize I would come across so many short stories.

14. Blue Fairy Book
Some e-texts put online by a university library.

15. 101 Zen Stories
What the hell? More zen stories? This is just ridiculous.

16. Short Story Group
A group of people giving tips on how to write short stories. Skip it.

17. The Ocean Full of Bowling Balls
A Wikipedia entry about an unpublished work by J. D. Salinger about the death of Kenneth Caulfield (Allie in The Catcher in the Rye).

18. Toy Story Short Film: “Small Fry”
I love the Toy Story movies. This is a preview for a new short story in the Toy Story universe!

19. Annie Leonard: The Story of Stuff & The Story of Broke – Live Chat Video
Popular video about sustainability, wall street, politics, blah blah blah.

20. Telling a Complete Brand Story
A quick guide on how to tell a well-rounded brand story.

21. Flickr: Image of a Storyteller
A great photo, apparently of a great storyteller in action.

22. Speekaboos
Short video stories for children. Cute.

23. Not-For-Children-Books
Children-style books you can flip through, but aren’t meant for children. Very interesting!

Short story. “You were on your way home when you died.” Ooooohh! …

25. Free Audio Stories

26. Do You Know Who I Am?
A short story that’s like a Craigslist ad.
